And I want to talk about it because here's the thing:
I would not be getting those opportunities if I didn't host my own show.
That's not me being humble. That's just the truth.
Hosting a podcast builds the kind of credibility that makes other hosts want to invite you on. Your show becomes your proof. Your positioning. Your reason to be in the room.
So before we talk about podcast guesting vs. podcast hosting... I want you to know where I stand.
Guesting is the cherry on top. Hosting is the whole sundae.
Here's why.
Ice Cream Sundae GIF by THE ICE CREAM SHOW
Podcast guesting is great. I've gotten clients from it. I've gotten visibility from it.
But when you're a guest on someone else's show, you're playing by their rules. Their audience, their questions, their format, their intro. You get a slice of the spotlight, and then you're gone *poof*
When you host your own show? You control everything.
The narrative. The positioning. The message that gets repeated, week after week, directly into the ears of your people.
There's no host framing you. No segment that veers off from what you actually want to be known for. No "so tell us a little about yourself" when you'd rather be going three layers deep on the thing that actually moves your business forward.
Your podcast is yours. It compounds. It works while you sleep. It warms up your audience before they ever reach out.
I've seen it happen with my own clients โ one had someone walk up to her at an event saying "I already feel like I know you, I've been listening to your podcast." She hadn't even spoken to that person yet. That's what happens when your voice becomes part of your brand.
That's the power of hosting your own show.
Guesting can open a door. But hosting builds the whole house.
So if you've been putting off starting your own podcast because you thought guesting was "enough"... I want to gently challenge that.
What would it mean for your business if your voice was showing up consistently, in your audience's feed, on your terms AND also opening doors to be invited onto other people's shows?
If that question is making something click, let's talk.

Because guesting? Keep doing it. It's a cherry.
